A little bit about me

lia parkinson

My passion for hats started at a young age – I still treasure the black felt hat I bought with my very first wages as a teenager.  Shopping trips in the centre of Milan often involved a detour to the hat department of a high-end department store, where I would relish the chance to try on hats of all shapes, sizes and styles.

In 2014, whilst searching for the perfect hat for a family wedding, I discovered a millinery shop in Bristol, got chatting to the owner and from that moment I was hooked. The following spring, I signed up for the first of many lessons with Rose Cory, milliner to the late Queen Mother and regarded by Vogue magazine as ‘the milliners’ milliner’.

I created my first couture collection for Spring Summer 2017. In addition to creating collections, I design and create bespoke hats and headpieces for private clients, whatever the occasion.

My individually tailored pieces are created to my clients’ needs, taking into account their personality and style, never pushing any of them to wear a hat bigger or bolder than they would feel comfortable with. I use fabric and materials of the highest quality to create hats that are unique and perfectly hand-crafted.  Whenever I can, I will source and use British material, fabrics and tools.

As a hat can often be a “wear once” purchase, I will also make alterations to hats that my clients already own, giving their headpieces a new lease of life.
